*** Sadly due to the new COVID cases nearby and the Premier’s request for people in eastern Sydney to avoid large gatherings “unless you absolutely have to … for the next few days”. We have decided to withdraw our participation in the Five Ways Festival.
“At this stage, we’re all on high alert,” Ms Berejiklian said. “In eastern Sydney and greater Sydney, we’re asking everybody to be extra careful. If you’re in the eastern suburbs, unless you absolutely have to attend a large gathering, unless you absolutely have to engage in activities of a social nature in the next few days, we ask everybody to refrain from that, to be extra careful, to make sure you hand sanitise and socially distance. If you’re catching public transport, we recommend people wear a mask.”
The Paddington community is organising a festival to mark the Winter Solstice. Broughton and Heeley Streets will be closed for food and gift stalls and live music between 11am–8pm. You can read about it here.
Join us as we celebrate the Winter Soltice (June 19th 2-5pm) when we turn back to the light* from 2pm to 5pm with Fair Stalls in the courtyard!
*Jesus said “I am the light of the world”.
We will have a range of kid-friendly activities for the afternoon:
- solstice trivia,
- mural planning and painting
- a reflective bonfire
- and JUMPING CASTLE
If you’d like to volunteer at the event, get in touch with Jaimie or Jess. Otherwise, turn up for an afternoon of fun and local connections!
St George’s participation at the Five Ways Festival is hosted by Something New – a community of children and adults together exploring the good life in God’s beautiful and broken world. Find out more at https://paddington.church/something-new/
