Aunty Jean Phillips is one of our great Aboriginal Christian Leaders. For more than five decades, Aunty Jean has been educating Australian Christians on the true history of this land we now call Australia. This January she is calling us to prayer by inviting you, with the support of Common Grace, to one of our prayer services across the country, as we approach January 26.
While there are mixed feelings across the country around “Australia Day”, we as Christians have an opportunity to stand with Aunty Jean Phillips to acknowledge the true history of our nation, to lament the present day disadvantages and injustices facing our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander brothers and sisters, and to pray for, as Brooke Prentis says, “a nation built on truth, justice, love and hope”.
There are 17 services happening across the country over the next two weeks, and we encourage you to find your nearest service, including Sydney on Jan 21, 7pm at St John’s, Darlinghurst.
Brooke Prentis, who led the service at Paddington Anglican in 2017 (photo at right), and will join our staff in 2019, will be travelling the country to 8 of the national prayer services.
If you’re already coming, or can’t attend, please share on Facebook so others can come.
