We’ve just celebrated Easter, the victory of God over evil and death in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. But what killed Jesus? Why was Jesus considered such a threat to the rulers of the day that they decided he needed to be eliminated? What forces were at work that led to the execution of an innocent man? And in what ways might they still be around in Australia today? Join us for our Sermon Series across May & June as we explore some of the powers, the systems, the rules that killed Jesus and how following Jesus today requires that we continue in his dangerous path of resistance.
“For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armour of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.” – Ephesians 6.12-13
“Christ disarmed the rulers and authorities and made a public example of them, triumphing over them in the cross.” – Colossians 2.15
